"I want to fly so high, hyungie..."
"How high?"
"Very, very, very high, like the birds in the sky."
"Woah! It rhymed."
"Hahaha, it did?"
Taehyung reached the corner, the sight that met his eyes was a nightmare brought to life. The old library was being swallowed by orange flames of fire, thick black smoke billowing into the sky. A massive crowd had already gathered, held by a few men from the water brigade who were fruitlessly throwing buckets of water at the inferno.
People were yelling, and running around to find their loved ones. Taehyung's eyes scanned the frantic faces in the crowd, his heart beating so fast it felt like it would burst through his ribs.
"Jungkook!" he screamed, shoving past people, his eyes darting to every person with dark hair, every person in a red shirt. "JUNGKOOK!"
He stopped in front of the building, anxiety burning deep through his veins but he still tried to calm himself down, "Maybe, he went home, yes, he would be home." Taheyung said, trying to console himself as he felt his heart beat ringing in his ears.
"Taehyung." He turned to see his family rushing towards him—his father, mother, Seokjin, all looking pale and terrified, Sumin rushed to his son, looking him up and down.
"What are you doing here? Where is Hana?" she asked, looking around, Taehyung shook his head, as he looked between them.
"Where is Jungkook?" he asked instead, Sumin looked at her son confused, "Taehyung what are you saying? She asked where is Hana—"
"Where is Jungkook, dammit." Taehyung yelled, pushing her away, "I don't know, he must be—" Sumin replied, looking at her son breathing heavily.
Taehyung turned away and marched towards the burning library but his father and brother were fast enough to block his way.
"Move!" Taehyung yelled, his voice a guttural sound that didn't even belong to him. "I said move out of my way!" He tried removing his father's grip from his arm but Seokjin held him from behind.
"Taehyung, calm down! Look at the building, you will die before you even get past the door." Seokjin yelled, pulling his struggling figure against his chest, but Taehyung pushed them away with a strength born out of pure panic.
Hana reached there and her eyes widened when she realised what's happening, she closed her mouth with her palm and went forward when Sumin saw her.
"Hana-yah.. Thank God you are fine, Taehyung... Taheyung she is here—"
"He's in there! Leave me dammit, Jungkook is inside the library, he went there."
Taejoon's face went grim, his grip on Taehyung's shoulder tightening, "He isn't in there, what would he do in a library? He would be anywhere else in the village. Taehyung. Use your head, come to your senses."
"He's in there," Taehyung roared, his eyes bloodshot as they fixed on the crumbling structure. "He told me, he told me he is going to the library! If anything happens to him, I will never forgive any of you!"
The air was thick with the scent of burning wood, a smell that felt like death to Taehyung's sensitive nose. Just as he was about to shove past his father, the roar of a motorbike engine cut through the chaos.
Yoongi skidded to a halt, the tires of his bike kicking up dust. He didn't even wait for the kickstand, letting the heavy machine drop to the ground as he ran towards the crowd as well, his face was full of terror as he stared at the library, that's when he noticed Taehyung.
"Taehyung." Yoongi gasped, "Did you see Soobin? Is he out?" he asked frantically and Taehyung felt the same terror as the alpha in front of him and shook his head before pushing away his father and dashing towards the crumbling entrance of the library.
"Taehyung no!" Sumin yelled, going to hold him but Taejoon held her back as Taehyung was already crossing the barracks.
Taheyung didn't hear his mother's sharp scream of his name as the heat of the fire was already lashing at his skin, a blistering warning that he ignored with a ferocity that stunned the bystanders. His mind was just focused on one thing and that was Jungkook, inside the burning building might be gasping for air while the world turned to ash around him.
"Taehyung, wait!" Yoongi yelled, following behind the alpha, but Taehyung didn't stop.
He threw himself through the main doors just as a heavy beam groaned overhead. The air was so thick with smoke that he felt like he was swallowing needles. He pulled the collar of his shirt over his nose as a cough tore through his throat, his eyes stinging and watering instantly
"JUNGKOOK!"
The sound of the fire drowned out every other sound of Taheyung's desperate yell. He coughed as he stumbled over a fallen bookshelf, the wood already reduced to glowing flames scorching through his pants.
He can feel the burn, but he pushed deeper into the east wing, his heart thudding with panic, eyes burning with tears, "Jungkook! Answer me, please."
He turned around the corner where Jungkook usually met Hosoek or study, the smoke was thicker that side, he moved his hands around to clear his vision, he shoved past a row of burning shelves, his heart hammering a frantic rhythm against his ribs until he finally saw them.
Under a collapsed roof section, Soobin was hunched over Jungkook's still figure. Soobin was gasping, his face was covered in soot as he desperately tried to fan the smoke away from the omega.
Jungkook lay completely limb, his head resting on the hard floor, his red shirt torn in several places and his black jeans shredded at the lower leg, revealing a deep, jagged wound that was oozing blood onto the floor mixing with the ashes.
"JUNGKOOK!"
Taehyung's scream was raw, but just as he reached them, a terrifying creak came from above. A massive, flaming long snapped from the rafters, hurtling directly towards the two omega. Without a second of hesitation, Taehyung threw himself into the gap.
He lunged over them, his body acting as a human shield. The log slammed into his left arm with a sickening thud followed by a hiss of burning fabric. Taehyung let out a cry of agony, the weight crushing his bone along with the heat on his flesh, but he didn't move, he held onto Soobin tighter, shielding him further.
"Taehyung." Yoongi burst through the smoke, his eyes wide in horror as he saw the scene, he didn't waste a second and lunged forward, rolling the burning log off Taehyung's arm and onto the floor.
Taehyung stepped away as Yoongi dropped to his knees, pulling his trembling brother into his arms, "I've got you, Soobin. I've got you."
Taehyung ignored the white-hot pain radiating from his burned arm. He crawled the last few inches to Jungkook, his right hand shaking violently as he cupped the omega's soot-smudged face.
"Jungkook...Jungkook, baby, please." Taehyung sobbed, the tears carving clean tracks through the ash on his own cheeks. He pulled the limp body onto his lap, cradling Jungkook's head against his chest, hands tapping and removing dust from his face desperately. "Open your eyes. It's me. Hyung is here. Please, Jungkook, don't do this to me."
He pressed his forehead against Jungkook's, his voice breaking into thousands of pieces. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I let you come here alone, I should have insisted more, I should have. Jungkook please, open your eyes, baby please."
He looked down at the ugly wound on Jungkook's leg, his heart bleeding more than the injury itself. He began to rock the omega gently, ignoring the roar of fire and the crumbling walls around them.
"Wake up, please...I love you, Jungkook. I love you so much. You can't leave me now, not when I finally told the truth." He whispered, his voice disappearing into a broken wail as he clutched the unconscious omega tighter.
"Taehyung." he heard Soobin's voice, "We have to take him out of here, the smoke will not let him breathe properly." Soobin placed a hand onto the alpha's shoulder, head still leaning onto his brother's chest.
Taehyung looked back at Soobin and nodded his head frantically, Yoongi felt a high sense of sympathy for the alpha, he was so so so scared for his brother, he can only imagine what Taehyung might be going through.
He turned to Soobin and kissed his forehead, "Should I carry you?" he asked, Soobin shook his head, eyes still on Jungkook, "I can walk."
Taehyung slid his right arm under his knees and his left hand supporting the omega's back, while his head laid against the alpha's chest and only if Jungkook was conscious, he would be terrified by the intensity of the alpha's heartbeats which was thudding right against his ear.
Taehyung groaned a little as he stood up, the weight of the omega making the charred skin on his arm pull and tear, but he didn't care. He wouldn't have cared even if his arm fell off, as long as Jungkook stayed in his reach.
"Stay with me, please." he mumbled and looked back at Yoongi who was helping Soobin to his feet. "Stay close to me," Taehyung rasped out to Yoongi, his voice dry as if it had been through gravel.
"Wait." Yoongi said, stepping forward and removing his overcoat, he looked at Taehyung for a second as if seeking permission before draping the coat over Jungkook's body. Taehyung gave a thankful nod before stepping forward.
The smoke was intensified by the time they managed to find their way to the door, every few steps a new explosion of sparks would rain down from the ceiling. Taehyung just pulled Jungkook closer to his chest to ensure not a single ember could touch the omega's skin.
The moment they crossed the threshold, the suffocating, recycled air of the fire was replaced by the sharp, cool oxygen of the afternoon.
The whole crowd gasped seeing them coming out and cleared the way to let them pass. Taehyung walked through them, legs shaking and his vision tunneling until the only thing he could see was the patch of green grass far enough from the smoke. He sank to his knees, his movements slow and agonizingly gentle as he laid Jungkook down.
"Someone get a doctor!" Seokjin yelled, but Taehyung didn't look up.
He leaned over Jungkook, his charred left arm hanging uselessly at his side, the sleeve of his shirt melted away to reveal raw, red skin. He used his right hand to cup Jungkook's chin, his thumb brushing over a smudge of soot on the omega's cheek.
"Jungkook? Baby, can you hear me? We're out. We're safe. Please... just one breath for me."
His family was there within seconds. Sumin let out a choked sob, her hands hovering over her son, terrified to touch the burn on his skin.
"Taehyung... your arm—Jungkook... Taehyung, we need to get you both to the hospital." Taejoon started, his voice thick with a guilt he hadn't expected to feel.
Taejoon reached out to pull his son away, but Taehyung let out a low, guttural snarl—a territorial rumble that vibrated deep in his chest, warning anyone to stay back.
"Don't touch him." Taehyung hissed, his eyes bloodshot and fixed entirely on Jungkook's pale, still face. Hana closed her mouth with her palm seeing them in that state.
"Taehyung, we need to help him." Seokjin said, Taehyung looked at his brother, eyes red, but his body moved slowly as he pulled himself back from Jungkook.
The ambulance was here already, and as the paramedics lowered the stretcher, Taehyung finally forced his fingers to leave the coat draped over him.
He watched with wide, stinging eyes as they lifted Jungkook. Every movement they made him hiss as if he was the one hurting all over again. He didn't stay back for long, as soon as the stretcher began to move toward the doors of the vehicle, Taehyung was on his feet.
His family tried to stop him as he needs medical help as well but Taehyung didn't pay any heed to them and stepped onto the ambulance right after the paramedics.
He saw as they pulled an oxygen mask over the omega's nose and mouth. The doors slammed shut as it started moving, taking them towards the hospital.
Taehyung sat beside Jungkook's stretcher reaching out with his right hand and took Jungkook's cold, limp hand in his. He leaned his head back against the side of the ambulance, his eyes never closing, watching the way Jungkook's chest rose and fell with the machine's help.
"Don't leave me." his hand tightening around Jungkook's. Tears flowed down as he watched the expressionless face of his beloved. "Please, don't do that to me, baby, you haven't even heard everything I have to say yet." he mumbled, voice just loud enough to let himself hear the words.

The doctor finally stepped out, Taehyung was on his feet so fast he swayed from the sudden rush of blood. His eyes were wide, searching the doctor's face for a sign of hope.
"How is he?" Taehyung rasped, his voice desperate. The doctor looked at him and then at his burned arm, he glared at the family, "why is he not treated yet?" he asked.
"Doctor, I am asking something." Taehyung hissed coming face to face with him, the doctor took a small step back, startled by the sheer intensity in the alpha's gaze.
He cleared his throat, "He...he is stable now, Mr. Kim. The smoke was the main concern, and we have him on oxygen to help his lungs. The wound on his leg was quite deep, it took twelve stitches to close, I don't know why his wolf wasn't helping his human side, but he was lucky. A few more inches and it could have hit an artery."
Taehyung felt a shudder run through his entire body. He closed his eyes for a second, a single, shaky breath escaping his lips.
"Is he awake?" Taehyung whispered, his voice small and fragile. All the anger from a moment ago had vanished.
"Not yet." the doctor replied, his voice softening as he saw the alpha's shoulders tremble. "His body needs to sleep. It's the best way for him to heal right now. But Mr. Kim, you really must let the nurses clean your arm. A burn like that can get infected very quickly—"
"I don't care about the arm." Taehyung snapped, his eyes glaring at the doctor, "Can I see him? Just for a minute."
"I am sorry Mr. Kim, but I am scared that I have to deny it, as given your injury I can't allow you near a patient who is yet to be healed." The doctor apologised.
"Taehyung he is right, I know you are worried for your brother but still you need to take in consideration that he is a patient." Taehyung turned to the head alpha who was standing in the corner with his own family.
Taehyung opened his mouth to say something, but closed it right after. He looked down on his burned arm, though the skin was slowly healing it was clear that it still needed cleaning or the wound would close with the filth inside.
Taehyung licked his lips and looked at the doctor and nodded, "Right, I won't—shouldn't go near him like this."
Sumin sighed hearing her son's words, "Do whatever you have to do but please make it fast." he said and sat back on the plastic chair.
The doctor motioned a few of the nurses who went out quickly and came back with a mobile cart and led the alpha to a small treatment room just two doors down.
The nurses along with the doctor helped clean the burned skin, wrapping the wound with bandages and even gave him a new set of clothes which Taehyung changed into gladly.
Taehyung was on his feet just as the doctors were done with him, he went out of the treatment room and was about to go towards Jungkook's room when one of the nurses stopped him.
"Only three persons at a time are allowed." She said, Taehyung's eyebrows furrowed, "Huh?" he asked, the nurse looked at his bandaged arm and gave a soft smile.
"I mean we can only allow three visitors at one time in a patient's room and—"
"Yeah, I got that, but who is here in his room?" he asked, fear creeping in his throat as he saw no one in the corridor as well as if all the family members went back home.
"They said they are his mother and sister." the nurse replied, Taehyung's eyes widened as he opened the door without listening to the nurse and yes, there was indeed Hyejin and Eunji sitting beside Jungkook along with his mother who was slicing some fruits.
They all looked towards the door, "Sukmo..." Taehyung whispered, Hyejin was onto her feet in a second as she covered her mouth with her palm, seeing bandages wrapped around his left arm along with a small cut on his jaw.
"Oh my lord, Taehyungie, it must be hurting so much." Hyejin said, looking at his arm. Taehyung shook his head immediately, "It's not, it's healing already," he replied, eyes darting across the bed to see Jungkook's face.
He stepped forward, "But how are you both here? You guys are coming back tomorrow, right?" he asked, Eunji nodded her head, "Yes, but Kwang-ssi said it would be better to go today as his father was asking for him to come back." she said, staring back at his brother with worry.
"But we didn't know we would come to this." she added, taking his brother's hand in her own, Taehyung chest tightened at the sadness in her voice.
"But thank you for saving him, oppa, thank you." Eunji mumbled, Taehyung sat beside her and placed her head on his chest gently, "No need to thank me, and he will be alright, don't...don't worry, yeah." he patted her head softly and felt her nodding against his chest.
Taehyung moved his hand closer and took Jungkook's hand in his own, caressing his knuckles softly.
The day finally came to an end, but the omega still laid motionless on his bed, Taehyung just came back with water bottles for Hyejin, Eunji and his mother.
"I think you all should go home now, only one person is allowed to stay the night." Taehyung said, sitting back on the chair.
"No, I am not going anywhere leaving my son." Hyejin said stubbornly, "Sukmo please, you guys just came back, it's not good to tire yourself, and Jungkook would be alright by tomorrow. Eomma, say something." he turned to his mother who was looking at them silently.
"He is right, Hyejin, let's go home, it's late and Taehyung I think you should come home as well, I will ask Seokjin to stay here, you are injured yourself." Sumin said, Taehyung shook his head.
"No, I will stay here, I am fine, and the doctor said I can even take off the bandage by night." he replied, touching his arm which wasn't painful anymore.
"Why isn't he waking though?" Eunji asked, eyes drawn upon her brother. "He is given sleeping pills, Eunji, his body needs to rest to recover." Taehyung replied.
He finally managed to make them understand and went out to bring a cart for them, Soobin and Yoongi had left the hospital in the morning itself, thankfully Soobin wasn't injured much and his omega helped him in healing faster. He just now hopes Jungkook wakes up as well.
The heavy silence of the hospital finally settled as they left Taehyung and Jungkook, the hospital was mostly empty except for a few of the patients here and there.
Taehyung had just sent them off, he stood at the door for a moment, watching the cart disappear into the dark village roads, only when he couldn't see it anymore that he turned around and went back inside.
He closed the door softly behind himself, the room was illuminated by a single lantern hanging by the wall above the bed, casting a warm, honey-colored glow over Jungkook's face.
Taehyung pulled the chair closer to the bed, and sat down on it, keeping his hands on the edge of the bed as his eyes traced every line of the omega's features—the way his dark lashes fanned against his pale cheeks, the slight part of his lips as he breathed and the rise and all of his chest.
He looked like he was just sleeping, like any other night, but the faint smell of antiseptic and the sight of IV line reminded Taehyung of the nightmare they had just escaped.
Taehyung looked back on his own and slowly unclasped the bandages, unwrapping it, the skin wasn't raw and red anymore, rather it was pink and new. Maybe the scars are going to stay there for a while.
He finally let his skin breathe and reached for the omega's hand; he wouldn't even care if he burnt whole if it meant that the person whose hand he is holding could stay safe.
"You're such a brat." Taehyung whispered, his voice thick with a mixture of exhaustion and affection. He gently laced their fingers together. "Always scaring me, always."
His other hand softly caressed his knuckles, staring at him. "I meant what I said in there." Taehyung mumbled, his eyelids growing heavy as the adrenaline finally left his body, "I just hope when you wake up, I get the courage to say that to your face again, and maybe...maybe you would give me a chance."
The exhaustion finally won. With his hand still tethered with Jungkook's, Taehyung let his head rest against the mattress near the omega's stomach.
Hours passed in the quiet of the night. The moon went down giving the way for the sun to make its way back to the sky and brighten up everyone's day, especially a certain alpha.
Taehyung's sleep got disturbed by the slight movement under his head, his eyes snapped open as he realised he was sleeping on Jungkook's hand as a pillow, he cursed himself for hurting his hand.
But his breath hitched, as he saw his fingers twitching, for a second he couldn't even move, his lungs frozen as he stared at Jungkook's open eyes. They were unfocused and glassy from the medicine, but they were open.
"Jungkook." Taehyung breathed, his voice was hoarse and broken.
He tried to keep himself composed, he straightened his back, trying to force his face into a mask of calm, but the moment Jungkook's finger gave a weak, instinctive squeeze against his own, the mask cracked.
"Hyung..." Jungkook's voice was barely a rasp, blinking his eyes to focus on the man standing in front of him
Without thinking, Taehyung stood up and leaned over the bed, his arms wrapping around Jungkook in a sudden, desperate hug. It was gentle, not to hurt his bandaged leg or the IV drip, but it was firm enough to pull Jungkook's small frame against his chest.
Jungkook gasped, his body tensing in pure surprise. He hadn't expected Taehyung to pull him into such an embrace. He could feel the rapid, frantic thud of Taehyung's heart against his own, and the way the alpha was trembling was a little concerning.
"Hyung.." Jungkook whispered again, his voice muffled against Taehyung's neck, hands raising to rest against the alpha's shoulders.
A choked, strangled sob broke out of Taehyung's chest. He buried his face in the crook of Jungkook's shoulder, his eyes spilling over with hot, fat tears that soaked into the hospital gown.
"Don't...don't ever do that to me again." Taehyung managed to gasp out, his voice muffled and thick. "I was calling so much, but you...you didn't open your eyes, I thought...I thought I'd never see you open your eyes again."
He pulled back just enough to look at Jungkook, his face a mess of tears and exhaustion. He didn't care how he looked. He removed the omega's hair from his forehead before leaning down and leaving a kiss on there, his lips trembling, Jungkook's eyes closed on their own.
Taehyung again buried his face in his neck, hands clasping around the omega protectively. "I love you. I love you so much that it scares me. Please never, never put me through that again, never. And thank you, thank you for coming back to me."
Jungkook's heart hammered a frantic rhythm against his ribs, mirroring the alpha's own pulse. It felt like the world was spinning too fast.
He lay there, paralyzed, his fingers curling instinctively into the fabric of Taehyung's shirt as he tried to find his voice. He wanted to melt into the touch, wanted to close his eyes and rest against the warmth of the alpha. .
But the reality of what this could mean burnt much more deeply, he always knew this, but hearing it from the man itself was much more terrifying than he ever thought. Tears escaped his eyes feeling the pain seep through his veins.
But it's wrong, no one will accept their relationship, it's dirty, his parents would be so ashamed of him, and what about Hana, wouldn't she be right about him?
A love between two cousins is seen as a sin, no one will agree to this, they will drag them through mud just as Hana said, and he would never let Taehyung go through that.
He knows Taehyung's parents and even his own will never be in favor of them, what if Taehyung's father stopped the treatment of his father, no it shouldn't happen and moreover the alpha deserves someone else, someone much better and capable than him. Hell he can't even give him a family. Hana's taunt rang in his ear making him dread the day the alpha would despise him for it just as she said.
He licked his lips, feeling Taheyung sniffing against his skin, "I know you love me, hyungie. I know. You've always been my best friend... my brother. And I love you too, more than anyone. But you can't say those words. Not like that." Jungkook said, his voice getting higher, a hint of panic bleeding through the rasp.
Taehyung pulled back slightly, his eyes bloodshot and searching, his face fell, a look of pure agony crossing his features. He reached out, his thumb brushing a tray tear from Jungkook's cheek with a tenderness that made the omega's soul ache. "Don't do that. Don't hide behind the word 'brother' when you know it's a lie, kookie."
"It's the truth!" Jungkook cried out, though it sounded more like a plea. "Hyung, you're...you're just in shock. You aren't thinking straight." Jungkook's voice trembled as he gently tried to push against Taheyung's chest.
"I've never been more sure of anything in my life, Jungkook-ah," Taehyung's eyes stared deep into the brown ones, he leaned closer, his breath warm against Jungkook's face, his voice dropping low. "I am in love with you. Romantically. Entirely. I want you as my partner, my mate... I want a life with you."
He paused, his eyes searching Jungkook's trembling ones, filled with a desperate hope, "And I know you feel the same. I know you love me back, kookie. Not as a brother. Not as a friend. You love me the same way I love you."
Jungkook's heart stuttered, the words hitting him with the force of a physical blow. He wanted to tell Taehyung that yes he started feeling the same for the alpha, but the image of his sick father, the disgust on his mother's face flashed before his eyes.
He forced his expressions to go flat, even as his insides were screaming. "No." Jungkook choked out, his voice cold and trembling. "You're wrong, Hyung. I don't love you. Not like that. I never have."
Taehyung would have believed it if it wasn't for the fact that how Jungkook's hands were trembling, how his heart was picking up a race against his ribs, he would have believed it if he hadn't seen the way Jungkook looked at him, the way the omega felt comfortable around him.
"You're a terrible liar, Jungkook-ah." Taehyung whispered, his voice was soft. "I can see it in the way you're shaking. I can see it in your eyes—they're screaming the truth even while your mouth is busy lying to me. Why are you doing this? Why are you trying to hurt me? Hmm?"
"It's a sin, hyung!" Jungkook choked, the sound raw and broken. "We are family, Hyung! It's wrong, you are my cousin...everyine will hate us. My parents, your parents...they'll be so ashamed. You are...you are engaged hyung, it's wrong, it's a sin."
"Then say it's a sin. Why are you saying you don't love me?" Taehyung asked, tears flowing down from his own eyes to Jungkook's cheeks.
"Hyung please..." Jungkook cried, "Are you worried about the engagement? Don't worry, I would not get engaged to her, how can I?" Taehyung said, staring at the omega hopefully, Jungkook took a deep breath and wiped his face.
"Hyung no, you...you can't do that, the head alpha will be very angry, and what about Hana? Who will marry her then, huh tell me? No hyung, don't do this please, not because of me at least." Jungkook looked at the alpha with panicked eyes.
"I am not doing this because of you, Jungkook, no. I am doing it because of myself, because it's me, I can't get engaged with someone knowing that this heart beats for you." Taehyung kept the omega's palm on his heart.
Jungkook breath laboured, "Don't hyung please, I don't love you, please, you can't force me." Jungkook snapped, Taehyung's face paled.
Force?
Taehyung moved away from the omega, the word 'force' echoing in the room, the raw hope that had been keeping him upright vanishing in a single breath.
"Force?" Taehyung whispered, his voice was barely audible. "You think... you think I am forcing you, Jungkook-ah?"
The mere suggestion was like a blade twisting in his gut. The idea that his love was being perceived as a weight—as a shackle—made the alpha's knees feel weak.
Jungkook didn't look at him, he couldn't. He kept his eyes fixed on the white duvet, his fingers trembling so violently they shook the fabric. "It feels like it." Jungkook choked out, his voice thick with the lie that was killing him from the inside.
"I would die before I ever forced you into anything." Taehyung rasped, his eyes bloodshot and swimming with a deep, hollow hurt. "If my love is a burden to you...if it's something you have to escape... then I've already failed you."
"Then prove it." Jungkook snapped, his head snapping up, his eyes wide and desperate, he could feel the hurt oozing out of the alpha's scent. "Prove you aren't forcing this on me. Swear it, hyung. Swear on me. Swear on my life that you won't break that engagement tomorrow, that you won't leave her, not because of me please hyung."
Taehyung froze. The air in the room felt like it had been sucked out, replaced by the same suffocating smoke he'd inhaled hours ago. He looked at Jungkook and saw a stranger looking back, a boy so terrified of sin and shame that he was willing to bury them both alive.
"You aren't well right now, you should rest, we will talk at home." Taehyung mumbled, turning around to go, he couldn't bring himself to look at Jungkook right now. "Hyung..."
"I said, at home, Jungkook." Taehyung snapped and went out to the room to get the discharge paper.
Jungkook sat there frozen, as the door closed behind the alpha. His fingers curled slowly into a fist, he had done it. He had pushed Taehyung away, using a lie as a shield and the word 'force' as a weapon.
A choked, jagged sob finally broke from his throat, his shoulders shaking as he collapsed back against the pillow. He felt physically sick by the look of hurt he saw on the alpha's face.
"I would die before I ever forced you into anything."
The words played on loop in his mind, more painful than the stitches in his leg. He knew Taehyung wouldn't force him. He knew the alpha would give him the world if he just reached out and asked him.
Jungkook pulled the duvet to his chin, shivering despite the warmth of the room. He closed his eyes, hot tears leaking from the corners and soaking into the bandage on his temple.
"I'm sorry," Jungkook whispered into the empty room, "I'm so sorry, Hyung."
